Trespassing the End

Hey, guys! Happy New Year’s Eve! I’m finally back from London! I’ve missed San Francisco so much. London kinda sucks. 1) Everything is way too expensive, and food portions are tiny. 2) The weather is way too cold for me to wear cute clothes. 3) The culture and people are somewhat boring.

Now that I’m back. I’m hoping to squeeze in a few blog posts before I have to head back across the pond in another 2-3 weeks. I’m sorry I haven’t updated since September but college is actually harder than I imagined. I went from writing 2-3 essays in a semester to 13 essays! I feel like all my spare time is spent catching up on my Z’s. =( Plus it’s super duper cold and sun-less so it just de-motivates me from dragging someone outside to go take pictures for me =/

But there was a plus side to London. Since there wasn’t a Forever21 near my school, I had to find somewhere else cheap to buy my clothes. I found PRIMARK! Primark is supposedly the British equivalence of Forever21, but I disagree. All the British people say that Primark stuff disintegrates in the wash because it’s so cheap, but it’s definitely higher quality than Forever21 things. This top I’m wearing for this shoot is a light, sheer material. I’ve worn it quite a number of times already, but it still looks really good. Usually a Forever21 top of this similar fabric would have wrinkled and deformed. Primark is probably one of the best things I’ve experienced in London. The store’s like 4-5 stories high with men’s, children’s, women’s, shoes, and home/miscellaneous products. It’s definitely overwhelming shopping there at first, but if you’re a true shopaholic, it’ll soon become your favorite place to be! Haha. If you’re ever visiting London, do drop by!

2012 is ending. It wasn’t apocalyptic, but many people think it was a bad year. 2013 will be a brand new start. Do you guys have any New Year’s resolutions? Lose weight? Find a lover? Do better in school? Well, I, for one, can’t think of a concrete resolution. I should probably aim to get to class early, but that’s a goal made to fail. I also want to tone up my abdomen but I’m too lazy to exercise. Hmmm I’ll tell you guys when I think of one!

In the meantime, you should follow me on Instagram. I update that a lot more than I do here =) Hope to see you there!

Fashion is Religion

Protography by: Spencer Corpuz

At last, I have updated my blog!! The past 3 weeks have been absolutely hectic. I moved halfway across the world, started college, and met some crazy awesome people. What do I think of London so far? Well, it’s a pretty nice city, but I think that nowhere can replace San Francisco in my heart. No where. Plus London is SO expensive!! Coming from SF, the 3rd most expensive city in America, I thought I’d be able to adjust better than most, but no. It takes me $8 to wash one load of laundry when I could have easily spent $2 at my local Laundromat. The H&M and F21 here are also crazy expensive. It’s quite hard to find deals, but I was lucky enough to attend the Motel Rocks Autumn Sample Sale, where I found one pair of pants and three tops for a grand total of……..only £24! (Usually you can only get one thing with £24)

Despite the price of everything, I was fortunate enough to have been stuck with awesome flatmates! Just 3 days of meeting each other, and I felt like we’ve known each other for a whole semester already. My roomies, Ingrid and Tara, specifically are the sweetest people ever. Ingrid makes me omelettes and chicken, and Tara made me toast and shares her jacket with me! Even though, my boyfriend isn’t here to take care of me physically anymore, I know I can always trust my roomies to keep me fed and safe if anything happened.

Last night my flatmates and a whole lot of other NYU kids and I went to a Steve Aoki concert at some club, and it was crazyyy. Fist fights, pervy guys, pick-pocketers, sweat and body odor, and a whole lot of unnecessary pushing. Our ticket said the show would start at 11pm, but Steve Aoki wasn’t even going to perform until 2:30am! Can you believe how bored I was? Yes, I could have danced to the techno music that was playing those 3.5 hours, but I don’t like techno or grope-y strangers, so I opted to just lay down on the couch with Tara. LOL A worker thought I was sick or something, and asked if I was alright. I’m considering to never go to a British club again…BUT the night could have ended worse, thank the heavens, my group of friends didn’t get anything stolen unlike the other NYU students =/

Anyways jumping to the photo shoot!… I found a classmate who was willing to take pictures of me! Photography is his hobby, and apparently he lives like 10 minutes south of San Francisco, so of course we have that connection to click with. =) Since college has so much work and clothes is expensive and I MAY have gotten a fashion internship (didn’t get back to me after my interview yet), we aim to take pics once a week. So stay tuned!

Whew! There are just way too many stories to fit into this one blog post! Anyways, I hope you like this outfit, and once again, follow me on Instagram @fabulouslybold because I’m taking bombass pictures here in London! =)

Going to be on Hiatus

Hey, guys! You guys may or may not know that I will be studying in London this upcoming school year. Anyways, I will be headed to the airport this Saturday. It's quite a bittersweet feeling, but I think excitement overpowers most of my other emotions :) I've already packed a good number of my clothes, so I will not be posting up any OOTD anytime this week. I'm not sure what the situation will be like once I arrive to London, so the future of my blog is still blurry. My usual photographer, aka my boyfriend, will not be following me to London sadly, so I am lacking a photographer. It would be amazing if I make a friend who loves photography and such, so that he/she can be my photographer out of their own pleasure. (I always dragged my boyfriend on photo shoots haha.) Also, London is an expensive city to live in, and I am a broke college student, so it's going to be quite hard to go shopping often. I hope you guys keep checking up on my blog for any updates. Until then, I hope you can follow me on Instagram under FabulouslyBold to see what's going on through my day to day life :) Thanks for reading!

Moats and Fortresses

(Sweater - Forever21; Top - Forever21; Skirt - Forever21; Belt - Target)

Hey guys! I know I haven't posted anything in ten days. I'm so sorry! College is coming up and I've been trying to spend more time with my boyfriend before I leave for London. I've also dedicated a lot of my free time working on his go-away gift, so I didn't have any time or motivation to assemble an outfit for a photo shoot.

Today, we went to Baker Beach to build a sandcastle! We went out of our way to buy a $5 sand toy set that we will never use again! What a waste of money... but oh wells! Maybe we can save them for our kids or something ahaha! It'd really be great if I could marry him one day.

Oh yea!! One big important thing! My sister got me an Instagram! Follow me under "fabulouslybold". Previously, I was against Instagram because I don't like hyped up things, but it's actually pretty fun!! I hope to see you there :)

Liebster Blog Award

So this is pretty cool! Stephanie Clark from Fashion by Stephanie nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award!

You may be asking, what is this award? Well...
"...The Liebster Blog Award is given to upcoming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The Meaning; Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome."

Well isn't that a buncha compliments stuffed into one tiny word! Thank you so much, Stephanie for the nomination! I'm quite honored.

Here are the answers to your question:

1. How did you get into blogging?
Well imagine a very bored teenage girl, stuck at home during the summer, with nothing but a passion for fashion. That girl was me. I had been fostering a love for fashion ever since the beginning of senior year. Over the year, my best friend, Mackenzie mentions that I should start my own blog. So it's summer, and I'm just like, why not? I can become the inspiration for others than just be the follower! :)
2. How would you describe your style?
I would say that my style is pretty diverse. I range from vintage to modern, but I always have to have some edge in it. I'm not into pastel colors or flowy fabrics. I have a slightly harsh personality which I represent in my outfits. I'm also a very bold girl so I do pops of colors a lot.
3. Who is your style icon?
I honestly don't have a singular style icon. I see what's trending from the blogging community. From there, I pick and choose which trends fit my personal style. Because in the end of the day, I have to stay true to myself.
4. How do you make your blog stand out from others?
Honestly, I don't do anything but be myself. I would say that since my personal style is pretty eclectic, my followers never know what to expect. So I guess that's something about me that's different from other bloggers.
5. What are your favorite designers/stores?
Well, I usually shop at Forever 21 or H&M since I am a broke teenager, but they are by far not my favorite. All the places I really like are too pricy, like Urban Outfitters and Madewell. If I could buy everything from one place though, I'd buy everything on NastyGal. They are freaking amazing and edgy...and overpriced..Oh yea, I love Jeffrey Campbell, enough said.
6. Do you wish to do anything fashion-wise in your career? And if so, what?
I definitely want to spend the rest of my life working with fashion, but I'm not sure the practicality of that. It is a really hard industry to succeed in. I actually wanted to be America's Next Top Model from 3rd grade to 8th grade, but then I came to terms that I am too short to even try out, but I think being a stylist would be the funnest thing in the world!
7. Do you have any other interests aside from fashion?
Of course I do! I love cheerleading. I was on my school's varsity cheerleading squad for 3 years, and I definitely want to continue in college. It's such a misunderstood sport. It actually should be in the Olympics, really. I also love watching dance. It's beautiful! Even though I have absolutely no future in ballet or contemporary (I sucked haha), I would really like to learn hip hop! Some other things that I care about is: humanities, the environment, traveling/cultures.
8. Where in the world would you like to travel to one day?
I'm not really sure where I would like to travel. Ideally, I'd say everywhere, but I really want to go to the Caribbean. It's cliche I know, but the water is so clear, clean and shallow! I would like to stay in those huts built on short stilts on top of the water! :) So romantic!
9. What is your favorite movie at the moment?
I don't really have a favorite American movie lol. I really like L is for Love, L is for Lies. It's Hong Kong-nese, and it makes me cry every single time! Definitely check it out! It has subtitles!
10. What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to sleep, play iPhone games, watch movies, and read. I'm so lame I know, but staying home is so relaxing!
11. What makes you, you?
Haha! Well, I think people would define me as pessimistic, perfectionist, critical, sarcastic, and very blunt. I stay above the influence, and stay true to myself. I don't mind speaking my mind, but it's not like I'm heartless either. I care about the environment deeply, and I can't wait to start my own family! I value family time! This corrupted, power-hungry world has made me pretty cynical though..

So the Liebster Award is a tag award. Here are the 5 blogs that I found most deserving of this award:

My questions for you are:
1. How did you get interested in fashion?
2. Why did you start blogging?
3. What are 3 words that describe your personality?
4. Describe your style.
5. How do you shop when you're on a budget?
6. What/who is your favorite store/designer?
7. If you had a time machine, where/when would you go and why?
8. What are your other interests/hobbies?
9. What is your dream job? Why?
10. How would you change the world if you could in one way?
11. What do you think every girl should have in their closet?

Rules:
1. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you. Then create 11 of your own questions for the people  you will tag.
2. Choose 5 people to nominate the award and notify (via comment, message, etc).
3. Link the tagger and the nominees in your post.

Happy Blogging!
xx

Hard Lines

(Top - Forever21; DIY Jeggings - H&M; Heels - JeffreyCampbell; Bag - Forever21)

Yesterday, my baby and I (and my little sister) went to the de Young Museum to check out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit! It was pretty cool. He really has a crazy imagination. Some of them are very Lady Gaga-esque. I took a ton of pictures which I will post soon!

Here, you can see that I wore my newest DIY masterpiece. They really gave an edge to my outfit. Scroll down or click here to check out how to make your jeans like mines!

Featured Blogger: Rachel Eisen

Name: Rachel Eisen
Blog URL: http://colored--shadows.blogspot.com/

1. Where are you from?
I'm from San Francisco, but I go to school in upstate New York.
                                                2. What are 3 words that describe your personality?
Garrulous, overly expressive, honest
                                                          3. What are your interests/hobbies?
I'm kind of low on hobbies these days, I tend to doodle a lot, obviously I blog, but mostly if I'm not hanging out with friends or in my club meetings I'm singing and dancing around my room like a loser.
4. Describe your style.
Depends on my mood and location. Sometimes I'm that average california girl (I have an obsession with crop tops) but other times I wish my entire wardrobe was made by J.Crew.
5. What's your inspiration?
I get a lot of style inspiration from bloggers and the people I see in the street. But also from just shopping, style directors for brands get paid for a reason.
6. How did you get into fashion?
Since I didn't have to wear a uniform I've been shopping non-stop. My brother also went to fashion school, so that probably did something as well.
7. Dream job?
I don't even know! I'd love to work for a magazine where I could travel the world and still get to focus on style and things I enjoy.
8. Motto in life/ favorite quote?
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." - St Augustine
9. Favorite brands?
Forever changing, right now I love Madewell, Wilfred from Aritzia, and Maje.
10. What do you think every girl have to have in their closet?
Navy striped top. I'm such a sucker for those, and they pretty much go with everything.

DIY Tie Dye and Ombre-ing with Bleach

Hey guys! So this is my very first DIY post! Yay! This calls for a celebration!!
So yesterday, I was playing around with bleach with my best friend, Florianne, from kindergarten to eighth grade. We didn't attend the same high school, and sadly we drifted apart, but what's a better way to bond than to spend a whole day revamping our boring old clothes?? Let me answer that, pretty much nothing!! :D

So what you would need for this project would be:
- a bucket, large-ish container, a tub or sink, anything to hold your bleach solution in
- bleach
- rubber gloves
- rubber bands
- goggles (optional but recommended)
- clothes!

So here you can see me tying rubber bands around my jeggings. Make sure you scrunch them up really well, and that the rubber bands are tight.

Here is the rubber-banded creature:

I recommend bleaching outside or somewhere extremely well-ventilated because of the toxic fumes of the bleach. We chose to bleach in the garage with the garage door open.
We used a 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water solution, but you can definitely put more bleach in if needed.
Soak your rubber-banded creature, until it changes to your desired color. (Note: Denim takes a long time to change color.)

After you get your desired color, rinse the creature out with cold water. Then take off the rubber bands and rinse it again. Throw it in the washing machine by itself. No detergent is needed. Make sure to put it on the cold water cycle. Then throw it in the dryer by itself or with other similar colored clothing that got bleach too.

Here is Florianne and her newly tie bleached shorts! We didn't use dye or anything, just bleach! :)

And here are my jeggings and ombre-ed tie front tank top! The funny thing is, my tank turned red because my jeggings dripped out orange dye into the solution, which in turn changed my tank to red. That was pretty cool and unexpected :)

Here are some things I saw on my jeggings:
1. Do you see a snake head with a mohawk? It's smiling with it's eyes, and it's mouth is open!
2. Do you see the skull of an alien??
3. Do you see the bear head?
4. And here are two pharaoh-like people! It's slightly creepy..

Well, I hope you thought this post was helpful! It's something you must do! It's a great way to save money by reusing old, unwanted clothes and make them like new again!

Note: Make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind ruining, in case bleach gets splashed onto it.

Digging through Bags

Photography by: Emily Yip
(Black Tank Top - Forever21; Skirt - Vintage; Button-up - Vintage; Belt - Target; Socks - Forever21; Boots - UrbanOutfitters; Bag - Forever21)

So I was cleaning out my closet last last Sunday. There were still like 3 or 4 big garbage bags of junk piled on my closet floor from moving houses like 1.5 years ago, and I told myself, "This is hideous. This needs to leave, so I can safely store my new Unifs and Litas in my closet than randomly on my bedroom floor." Anyways, as I was digging through the bags, and sorting what belonged in the trash/recycling/garage, I stumbled upon this button up shirt! It's pretty faded and loose, but I think I can do a lot of things with this. What do you guys think? Should I leave reinvent this shirt by ombre-ing the bottom or should I leave be?

Teen Choice Awards 2012: Pink Carpet Fashion

So the Teen Choice Awards was this past Sunday, and I thought that I would share my opinions of the outfits I saw struttin' down the pink carpet!

BEST DRESSED

1 Taylor Swift never fails to fall into the Best Dressed list. The color is simple, and the dress looks
    quite conservative from the front, but back is completely bare save for the straps. It's not boring at all;
it's sexy and flirty done classily! It's by far my favorite for the whole night!
Carly Rae Jepsen looks so stylish in her cream palm tree blazer and shorts. I love how she's doing
her own thing and not wearing a dress like the other girls. I love her blunt bangs and her amazing
style which you can check in the "Call Me Maybe" music video!
Selena Gomez looks so girly here, sort of like a Barbie! I love how simple and modest the dress is.
She's not trying to be too sexy, which is a total breath of fresh air! So classy!
4 Lucy Hale is wearing such a classic A-line dress here. I love the bright color and the clean 90
degree angle cuts in the front. Easily the top 3 for me of the night!
5 I fricking love Ellen DeGeneres! She's so funny!! But back to the point, I really like her
androgynous outfit. The cuffed bottoms of trousers, the oxfords/chukkas, and the pop of color and
the looseness of the belt. It's a cool, relaxed outfit!

WORST DRESSED

So who else thinks that Demi Lovato here looks like Fergie because of the sleek high ponytail and
the crazy geometric dress? Maybe Demi should find her own style because Fergie's doesn't fit this
     former disney star.
Jojo, here, looks like she's ready to hit the club, not the Teen' Choice Awards. Her outfit looks
cheap too! You could probably find a dressier outfit in the sales section of Forever 21!
Debbie Ryan looks terrible here!!! The print is too busy and the length of the dress plus her hairstyle
makes her look so motherly. She's nineteen for god's sakes, not fifty.
Rebecca Black is wearing an ill-fitting t-shirt with an equally too-large skirt. Like Jojo, this outfit is
not right for the occasion. It looks fine for something to wear every day, but not for the pink carpet.
Jordan Sparks is not sparkling here, sadly. Bubble skirts were in style ages ago, but she brought it
back without shame. It doesn't do her now slimmer figure any good. She should have chosen
something more form-fitting, to show off her curves. Also, the pink jewels on her chest are very
     tacky!
Nikki Reed's dress looks like something that can be seen at Junior Prom. The style is dull and it fits
her quite oddly. Her strap heels do not match the dress very well either. =/

Well that's it! What did you think about what you saw struttin' the pink carpet?

P.S. I also made a video about the Miss USA Pageant gowns last month! :)
